Mozambique Hunt 2012

Kelly McMillan

Kelly McMillan’s goal was to successfully hunt cape buffalo, selous zebra and sable on this safari but he also had the opportunity to take two additional trophies, a warthog and bush pig. Kelly selected three rifles from the McMillan Custom Collection. His McMillan Dynasty rifle was used to shoot the selous zebra and sable. The rifle was chambered in 338 Win Mag and he used McMillan’s Precision ammo, 225 gr. Barnes TTSX. To hunt the red duiker and bush pig, Kelly chose his Prodigy rifle chambered in 7mm Rem Mag and used McMillan’s Precision Ammo, loaded with150 gr. Barnes TTSX and McMillan’s Extreme Velocity ammo 140 gr. Berger VLD respectively. Kelly’s Cape Buffalo required using his Prestige rifle in 404 Jeffrey and used McMillan’s ADG ammo, 400 gr North Fork Semi-Spitzer. It was a one shot kill at 90 yards.

Craig Boddington

Craig Boddington, renowned big game hunter, had a successful safari hunting nyala, reedbuck, selous zebra and cape buffalo. Craig used his left-handed McMillan Dynasty rifle chambered in 300 Win Mag to harvest nyala, reedbuck and selous zebra. He used McMillan Extreme Velocity ammo loaded with 185 gr. Berger Hybrid. The reedbuck was shot at 160 yards and the selous zebra at 400 yards. To take the cape buffalo at 100 yards Craig chose his left-handed Prestige rifle chambered in 404 Jeffrey. He used McMillan’s ADG ammo, 400 gr North Fork Semi-Spitzer.

JC Bell

JC Bell chose three McMillan rifles to use on his safari hunt. JC shot a cape buffalo using his Heritage rifle chambered in 416 Rem Mag. He used McMillan’s ADG ammo, 400 gr. North Fork. Using the Legacy 338 Win Mag, JC harvested a waterbuck and two sables. His choice of ammunition was McMillan’s Precision ammo, 225 gr. Barnes.

Bruce Dunn

Bruce Dunn successfully hunted cape buffalo, sable and oribi using his McMillan Prodigy rifle chambered in 300 Win Mag. His choice of ammo was McMillan’s Extreme Velocity 185 gr. Berger Hybrid. Bruce also used the McMillan Prestige rifle (2009 SCI Donation Rifle) to shoot his second cape buffalo using McMillan’s ADG ammo, 400 gr. North Fork.

Cathy Murtaugh

Cathy Murtaugh is with her first big game trophy, a cape buffalo beauty. Cathy’s choice of rifle was a McMillan Prestige. Her choice of ammo was McMillan’s ADG .404 Jeffrey, 430 gr. North Fork. Cathy is shown here with her husband Sean.

Sean Murtaugh

Sean Murtaugh used a McMillan Heritage rifle chambered in 416 Rem Mag to take this cape buffalo with one shot. His choice of ammo was McMillan’s ADG ammo, 430 gr North Fork. Sean also harvested a Reedbuck with a McMillan Tactical Hunter in 300 Win Mag and used McMillan’s Precision ammo loaded with150 gr Barnes TTSX.

Mel Zeman

Mel Zeman hunted nyala, cape buffalo, warthog, bushbuck, and crocodile using a McMillan Prodigy chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. Mel used McMillan’s Precision ammo, loaded with150 gr Barnes TTSX.
